Northern Lights Hunt with Snowmobiles

Head into the Arctic night on a guided snowmobile safari in search of the Northern Lights. Follow snowy trails through the landscapes around Rovaniemi and leave the city lights behind.
Before setting off, your guide explains how to operate the snowmobile and takes you through the safety instructions. Two people share each snowmobile, combining the excitement of the ride with stops to watch the sky.
The evening includes approximately 1–2 hours of snowmobile driving, depending on the time spent at viewing stops. Winter equipment and return transfers from the Access Lapland office to the activity starting point are included.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Driving Requirements
Drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driving licence in category A1, T, A or B. Please bring your licence with you.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances is prohibited.
Children and Cold Weather
The minimum age is 5 years. However, this evening safari is not recommended for young children because of the cold nighttime conditions. An early return cannot be arranged if a child becomes cold.
Children’s travel arrangements depend on their age and height. Please contact us before booking to confirm whether your child will travel in a sledge or as a snowmobile passenger.
Children under 10 travelling in a sledge must be accompanied by an adult. The child rate applies only to children travelling in a sledge; snowmobile passengers are charged the adult rate.
At temperatures of −20°C or below, children who are too young or too small to ride as snowmobile passengers cannot participate. We recommend rescheduling the activity in these temperatures.
Health and Insurance
Personal travel insurance is recommended. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition that could affect your participation, please consult your doctor before booking.
Single Driving and Damage Liability
A single-driving supplement of €50 allows you to ride a snowmobile on your own.
Your liability for damage to the snowmobile is up to €980 per accident, per snowmobile. This can be reduced to €300 by purchasing a €30 liability waiver per driver, per safari.
Booking Information
Please arrive at the confirmed meeting point on time. Missing the meeting time or location means you cannot join the activity, and no refund will be issued.
If the minimum participant number is not reached, Access Lapland reserves the right to combine departure times.
Access Lapland reserves the right to change the price, programme, inclusions or duration due to weather conditions or unexpected circumstances.

Are the Northern Lights guaranteed?
No. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed. The tour combines an evening snowmobile safari with a search for the aurora.

Do I need a driving licence?
Yes, if you wish to drive. Drivers must be at least 18 and hold a valid driving licence in category A1, T, A or B. Please bring your licence with you.
Will I share a snowmobile?
Two people share each snowmobile. If you would prefer to drive alone, you can select the single-driving option for an additional €50.
What should I wear?
Wear warm layers and thick socks. We provide thermal overalls, boots, gloves, a balaclava and a helmet.
Can children join?
The minimum age is 5, but the late evening and cold conditions make this safari less suitable for young children. Please contact us before booking to confirm your child’s travel arrangements and discuss whether the experience suits your family.
Can I book a private safari?
Yes. This experience can also be arranged for your own group with a dedicated guide. Contact us with your preferred date, group size and wishes.
