Snowmobile and Ice Fishing

Head into Rovaniemi’s snowy landscapes on a guided snowmobile safari before stopping at a frozen lake to try ice fishing.
Your guide introduces you to the snowmobile and explains the driving and safety instructions before you set off. Two people share each snowmobile as you follow the trail through the winter scenery.
At the lake, your guide shows you how to ice fish and shares stories about local traditions and Lapland’s history. Drop your line through the ice and enjoy the peaceful surroundings as you wait to see whether a fish will bite.
No previous snowmobiling or ice fishing experience is required. Winter equipment and return transfers from the Access Lapland office to the activity starting point are included.

Driving Requirements
Snowmobile drivers must be at least 18 and hold a valid driving licence in category A1, T, A or B. Please bring your licence with you.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances is prohibited.
Children’s Participation
Participants must be at least 5 years old.
Please contact us before booking to confirm your child’s travel arrangements during the snowmobile safari. Age and height restrictions apply to snowmobile passengers.
Children under 10 travelling in a sledge must be accompanied by an adult. The child rate applies only to children travelling in a sledge; children travelling as snowmobile passengers are charged the adult rate.
Cold Weather
At temperatures of −20°C or below, we recommend rescheduling for a more comfortable experience.
Children who are too young or too small to ride as snowmobile passengers cannot participate in these temperatures.
Single Driving and Damage Liability
Two people share each snowmobile. A single-driving supplement of €50 allows you to ride a snowmobile on your own.
Your liability for damage to the snowmobile is up to €980 per accident, per snowmobile. This can be reduced to €300 by purchasing a €30 liability waiver per driver, per safari.
Health and Insurance
Personal travel insurance is recommended. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition that could affect your participation, please consult your doctor before booking.
Booking Information
Please arrive at the confirmed meeting point on time. Missing the meeting time or location means you cannot join the activity, and no refund will be issued.
If the minimum participant number is not reached, Access Lapland reserves the right to combine departure times.
Access Lapland reserves the right to change the price, programme, inclusions or duration due to weather conditions or unexpected circumstances.
Good to Know Before Your Adventure
Do I need previous experience?
No. This experience is suitable for beginners. Your guide explains how to operate the snowmobile and introduces you to ice fishing during the tour.
How long does the experience last?
The total duration is approximately 3 hours, including transfers. Around 1.5 hours is spent snowmobiling, with time for ice fishing during the outing.
Will I share a snowmobile?
Two people share each snowmobile. If you prefer to drive alone, single driving is available for an additional €50.
Do I need a driving licence?
Yes, if you wish to drive the snowmobile. Drivers must be at least 18 and hold a valid driving licence in category A1, T, A or B. Please bring your licence with you.
Can children join?
Yes, children aged 5 and over can join. Please contact us before booking to confirm the travel arrangements for your child during the snowmobile safari.
Will we catch a fish?
A catch is never guaranteed. Ice fishing is also about patience, enjoying the surroundings and learning a traditional way to spend time outdoors in winter.
What should I wear?
Wear warm layers and thick socks. A helmet, balaclava, gloves, boots and thermal overalls are provided.
Where do we meet?
The meeting point is the Access Lapland office at Pekankatu 4 in Rovaniemi. Return transfers to the activity starting point are included.
